Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. This commission is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). In Nov, 1975 on the recommendation of Estimates Committee of Parliament and Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) , Government of India constituted a Commission called the Subordinate Services Commission. On Sept 1977, Subordinate Services Commission was renamed as Staff Selection Commission(SSC).

Staff Selection Commission has its headquarters located at New Delhi. At present it has seven Regional offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore. It also has two Sub- Regional offices at Raipur and Chandigarh. SSC constituted as one Chairman, two members, one Director, one Security-cum-COE and two Dy Secy. Shri S. Gopalakrishnan, IAS is Chairman of SSC.
